Don't let the intimidating shape and color of this pepper scare you off - it is infact sweet! I would suggest that it boasts better sweet-pepper flavor than the popular Lunchbox variety that I and most grocery stores carry.
Originally from Turkey, the corbasi is a quite long and slender sweet pepper with fruit coming in at 10 inches in length when fully grown. The shape and vivid colors complement one of the the most popular hot peppers I offer, the Buena Mulata. Fruits ripen from a bright yellow, to a vibrant orange, wrapping up at a deep pepper red. A Scoville heat rating of 0-1000, relatively sweet compared to even a the most mild jalapeno.
Harvest: 80-90 Days
Sun: Full Sun
Pairs Well With:
Eggplants – Peppers and eggplants demand similar growing conditions making them quite a strong pairing
Beans, peas - Peppers are heavy feeders and pairing with legume varieties that enrich the soil will do them well
Lettuce, salad mix – These low-to-the-ground varieties both maximize garden space and are light feeders, complimenting both pepper’s size and tendency to pull a lot of nutrients from the soil
Marigolds – a repellent for some of the pests that bother peppers
